The GoromCha Story

Milon woke up one morning and as he does almost every day, he went to his local tea stall (i.e. cha-er dokhan). There was no particular reason why he did this, he could have had his tea at home. But the thing is, Milon enjoys spending time at his tea stall because this is where he finds out about what's happening in his local community and gets to meet and exchange information with others. In a word, the tea stall is the centre of the local 'adda' and Milon really can't live without it. After 2 cups of tea and a toast biscuit, he went home that morning and started to think... what if the 'adda' at my tea stall could be transferred to the web? Wouldn't that be easier for us to share information and make it more easily accessible? Later that day, a few more cups of tea later, the GoromCha idea was born.

Now, after a lot of thinking, coding, designing, talking, sleeping, eating, drinking tea, shouting, more coding and testing, GoromCha is live in Beta.

GoromCha is Bangladesh's first dedicated local community website where you can find information about any area in Bangladesh and connect with members of these communities. Harnessing the power of the internet, GoromCha provide its users with free tools that enhance their day-to-day lives and enable people to connect better with one another.

So what does this really mean?

The internet can be a really big and complex place. GoromCha aims to make it as simple as possible for the Bangladeshi internet user to transfer onto the web some of the important things they would usually do in their daily lives within their community. The beta (i.e. trial) version of GoromCha will include 2 distinct features that address such needs of the community online:

Buy & Sell: This part of the site provides a platform for buyers and sellers to interact and engage with one another. By posting a free listing onto the GoromCha marketplace, a seller can promote their products or services to buyers on GoromCha. For buyers, the site offers innovative, user-friendly features and functionality to find what they are looking for and then contact the seller.

Local: Members of any local community across Bangladesh can connect with one another on GoromCha. Features include Local Directory, Gorom Events and Gorom Local News.

We aim to create a platform that is easily accessible and enables communities to connect with one another in a seamless manner and make GoromCha a household name in Bangladesh and among Bangladeshi people across the world.
