What is GoromCha?

GoromCha is Bangladesh's first dedicated local community website. Harnessing the power of the internet, GoromCha provide its users with free tools that enhance their day-to-day lives and enable people to connect better with one another.

So what does this really mean?

The internet can be a really big and complex place. GoromCha aims to make it as simple as possible for the Bangladeshi internet user to transfer onto the web some of the important things they would usually do in their daily lives within their community. The beta (i.e. trial) version of GoromCha will include 2 distinct features that address such needs of the community online: Buy & Sell, and, Local

What is Buy & Sell?

This part of the site provides a platform for buyers and sellers to interact and engage with one another. By posting a free listing onto the GoromCha marketplace, a seller can promote their products or services to buyers on GoromCha. For buyers, the site offers innovative, user-friendly features and functionality to find what they are looking for and then contact the seller.

What is Local?

Members of any local community across Bangladesh can connect with one another on GoromCha. Features include Local Directory, Gorom Events and Gorom Local News.

What is Gorom Local News?

This section enables GoromCha members to post news reports and articles about their local community to share with other GoromCha users. Once a user posts a Gorom Local News entry, other GoromCha users will be able to post comments.

What is Gorom Events?

Gorom Events is a platform for GoromCha users to see what events are happening and to promote their own events.

Events listed in Gorom Events will be featured in a map and will be categorised according to the type of event taking place (concerts, exhibitions, films etc.)

What is a Local Business Review?

Once a business is listed in the GoromCha Local Directory, it is available for GoromCha registered users to review. For example, if Milon lists the restaurant, Biryani House, users can then visit the Biryani House page and write reviews about what they think about the restaurant and update any information where applicable.

Why use GoromCha?

GoromCha is there for you to do the kind of things you would usually have done within your community using traditional methods (like word of mouth, references or newspapers), to now doing them online.

This includes buying and selling products and services through the Buy & Sell pages, similar to a classifieds page in a newspaper, or find out about what's happening in a local area and exchanging locally relevant information via the Local section.

Who uses GoromCha?

GoromCha is available to everyone. Anyone who would like to use the internet to make contact with buyers and sellers or connect with their local community to exchange information, or find out about what's happening in any local area will hopefully benefit from using the GoromCha platform and free tools. Please read the "About Us" section for more information.

What is a tag?

Use tags in for any items you list on GoromCha to make it easier for others to find it. For instance, if you are posting an article in Gorom Local News about a cricket match in Lalmatia, you could add the tags "cricket", "lalmatia".

Is GoromCha available in Bangla?

Unfortunately we don't have this option ready yet but promise we're working on it. It should be ready in the coming months. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to releasing GoromCha in Bangla.

Why the name GoromCha?

Good question!

As the concept for building this local community site came about after a visit to a local tea stall, we thought the name GoromCha would be the right way to go. We also want our site to be friendly, accessible and part of the Bangladesh internet users daily ritual, just like a cup of "Gorom Cha".

Hope that make sense :) We would love to know whether you like or dislike the brand name.

Buy & Sell

What is are Classified Ads?

GoromCha's Buy & Sell section has the same objective as a classifieds section a newspaper - i.e. to connect buyers and sellers. In effect, any ad posted in Buy & Sell could be referred to as a classifieds ad as nowadays many people refer to ads promoting individual products or services for sales as classifieds.

Who can post a classified item?

Any GoromCha registered user (i.e. member) can post a classified item.

Inappropriate content will be removed and could lead to action against the user. GoromCha is moderated by a dedicated in-house team as well as the user community.

How do I buy a product from Buy & Sell?

To buy an item on Buy & Sell you will need to get in touch with the seller who posted that listing by using the contact methods available. This could be either by phone, email, or directly within the GoromCha platform. For more information, please view the related videos in the "How To" page.

How do I sell a product in Buy & Sell?

To sell a product on Buy & Sell, you will first need to register and become a GoromCha member. Once you have done this, by clicking on the "Post an Ad in Buy & Sell" button, you will be able start the quick and simple process of creating and then posting your ad in the relevant category in GoromCha Buy & Sell. GoromCha Local Directory

Who can list a Business?

Any GoromCha registered user (i.e. member) or business can add a business to GoromCha Local Directory.

Inappropriate content will be removed and could lead to action against the user. GoromCha is moderated by a dedicated in-house team as well as the user community.

What type of Businesses are allowed to be listed?

All types of business are allowed. All businesses must be legal. Please read our Terms of Use for more information.

How can I find if my business is been already listed?

You can find your business by searching using the search box on every page or by clicking through within the GoromCha Local Directory.

How do I claim my business?

You may claim your business by clicking on the "Claim Your Business" button on the page where you feel a user has already created a page for your business. Once you do this, we will review your claim and respond to you within 7 days to discuss further.

Why should I claim my business?

Claiming your business on GoromCha Local Directory will give your business an online presence for free, without the fuss of maintaining a full website. It will enable you to control all content relevant to your audience in the business profile box, such as contact details, address, and space to include limited marketing messaging.

What kind of photos should I attach to business listings?

Photo file sizes must not exceed 4mb.

Any photo that is legitimately related your business listing is ok to publish in GoromCha Local Directory. GoromCha is moderated by a dedicated in-house team as well as the user community.

Gorom Local News

Who can post a local news?

Any GoromCha registered user (i.e. member) can post a Gorom Local News item.

Local Events

Who can post a local events?

Any GoromCha registered user (i.e. member) can post an event in Gorom Events.

Inappropriate content will be removed and could lead to action against the user. GoromCha is moderated by a dedicated in-house team as well as the user community.

Profile

How do I change my basic account information?

You can change your basic account information by visiting your profile page and clicking on the "Edit info" button. For more information, please view the related videos in the "How To" page.

Who can see my name?

All GoromCha site users can see your chosen display name. When registering on GoromCha, or when editing your profile, you can select certain information to made publicly viewable or private only.

What is Saved Items?

Any item, whether an ad your are creating for Buy & Sell or even a story you are writing for Gorom Local News, you can choose to save it and return to it later to complete it. Such items will be stored in Saved Items

What is Bookmark/Share?

You can use this tool to share a page or posted items with others on external sites.

Local Reviews

What should I review?

You can review any business within the GoromCha Local Directory by writing a Local Review.

Can I review a business I'm connected to?

Yes you can - but it's probably a better idea to claim the page for your business and encourage users to write reviews and see what they are saying.

What if the business I'm reviewing gave me something for free or at a discount?

Lucky you! However, we want to ensure that reviews on GoromCha are unbiased and honest so that users can benefit from them.

What if I had a bad experience? Can I say something negative?

Of course you can! We don't expect everyone to enjoy every meal they have at every restaurant, or the be happy with the service they receive at a hotel every time. By posting reviews of bad experiences on GoromCha, you could potentially inform others of such issues and perhaps even get the business themselves to take your feedback on board and improve.

Privacy

What does GoromCha do with my personal information?

GoromCha stores all personal information securely and only makes information publicly available following agreement by the user. We do not sell your data onto any third party so you won't have to worry about a call centre trying to sell you something using your data on GoromCha. If at any point GoromCha choose to partner with any third-party and share data for the benefit of our end-user, we will seek the end users approval prior to doing so.
