Today’s world mostly stands on the advantage of internet which is construct the world smaller, in fact only for internet world came into people’s hand wrist. If we are curious enough to search the history, it says the struggling emerging period of the new creation.

Now let see, what basically the web browser stands for! It is mainly a software application that supposed to have few features like to locate, to retrieve and to display content on the World Wide Web, including Web pages, images, video and other files.

For example, as a client or server model, the browser works as a client to run on a computer that contacts the web server and request information. The Web server sends the information back to the Web browser. After that we get to view the articulate result on the display of the computer or other Internet-enabled device that supports a browser.

Here a question might arise that what is World Wide Web. The World Wide Web (abbreviated WWW or the Web) is mainly a bank of web resources and information stowage which are identified by Uniform Resource Locators (URLs), interlinked by hypertext links, and can be accessed via the Internet.

In the early age of the browser, the emerged of the browser was in the form of hyperlinked application at the time of the mid and late 1980s. English scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989 and both of the first web server and the web browser called as WorldWideWeb.

He wrote the first web browser computer program in 1990. Later on the WorldWideWeb renamed as Nexus. After that, world got the first web browser with graphical user interface named Erwise in 1992 and it was initiated by Robert Cailliau.

In 1993, the world’s first popular web browser Mosaic innovated by Marc Andreessen. Mosaic became popular web browser on that time only because of having few easy features like easy to use and more accessible to the average person. So that the use of web expound in a huge rate.

Next come 1994, the historical year of web browser. Marc Andreessen the founder of Netscape Company released Mosaic-influenced Netscape Navigator which became most popular web browser.

The survey says that around 90% of all web user used to use the browser that time. In 1995 Microsoft with the influence of Mosaic, initiating the industry’s first browser war, first involve to release Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer usage share peaked at over 95% by 2002.

Time of 1996, another browser “opera” first debuted in the world. Though the browser never got much popularity, in fact the user rate were very less and it was only less than 2% of the web user peaked opera, according to the Net Applications.

Hence, the opera-mini version had a huge response over the time. But it was mainly targeted for the mobile app user and that is why it got faster expansion.

Besides, it is also available on several other embedded systems, including Nintendo’s Wii video game console. In 1998 Mozilla foundation produced competitive browser “Firefox” which was used open source software model. Day by day the browser developed updated version to get the best response of use. Shortly after the release of Firefox 1.0 in late 2004, Firefox (all versions) accounted for 7% of browser use. In August 2011, Firefox has reached at 28% usage share.

Next come to know the Apple history, Apple Safari had its first beta released in January 2003; as of April 2011 and it had a dominant share of Apple-based web browsing, , accounting for just over 7% of the entire browser market. There are few alternative browser of Mac OS, like Firefox, Camino, Google Chrome, and OmniWeb. OmniWeb and Google Chrome, like Safari, use the WebKit rendering engine (forked from KHTML), which is packaged by Apple as a framework for use by third-party applications.

In August 2007, Apple also ported Safari for use on the Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Nowadays the most popular browser is about Chrome which was first released in September 2008. Chrome has taken significant role over the year of the browsing market by doubling its usage share from 8% to 16% by August 2011.

By April 2014, Chrome’s usage had hit 45% which is really a huge development. The most customization and text-based Web browser “Lynax” became popular browser for Unix shell user. There are also few text-mode browser having advanced features, such as w3m, Links (can operate both in graphical and text mode) and the Links forks such as ELinks.
